Elements of nature - earth, water, fire, ether, air and light - have a significant impact on our body. In Sahaja Yoga, we use each of these elements to bring our Chakras (plexus) in balance and to discard all the toxins from our body. This in turn helps to deepen our meditation. One of the Sahaja Yoga technique is foot soaking. This technique makes use of two elements: water and earth (represented by the salt we add to the water for foot soak). Foot soak is a stress reliever and it especially helps us to sleep better when done just before bedtime.
For foot soak, we need:
salt (sea salt or regular table salt)
bowl (aluminum or plastic)
a mug/glass of fresh water to clean our feet at the end
a towel to dry our feet at the end
Step 1:
Fill the bowl with water (cold or room temperature), till ankle deep.
Step 2:
Add handful of salt to the water in the bowl.
Step 3:
Keep towel and mug/glass of fresh water within reach.
Sit on a chair, be comfortable and put your feet in the bowl of salt-water.
Feet should be comfortably placed in ankle deep salt-water in the bowl.
Step 4:
Sit for meditation for 10-15 minutes with both palms open in your lap.
During meditation, your feet should be in the foot soaking bowl.
If you wear glasses, please remove them.
If there are any thoughts, please avoid reacting to them.
Step 5:
After meditation, please rinse your feet with fresh water in the mug/glass.
Step 6:
Dry your feet with the towel.
Step 7:
Dispose or flush the water down the toilet.
Avoid spilling or disposing water in the other parts of the house. This water has all your toxins and you don't want to dispose it anywhere but in the toilet.
Don't use foot soaking bowl for any other purpose.
