Life's a Car

Kabir Gupta

When life is like a car navigating through life-changing experiences, it is vital to foresee and learn how to drive in balance so that stress doesn't take a toll and land you in trouble. When to push the brake or speed up is the master's game once he or she is in control. Find out how you can stay in control and not lose balance even for a minute. It's all within. Watch the video with narration of poem 'Life's a Car' followed by an excerpt of Shri Mataji's talk and Self-Realization by Shri Mataji.

Life’s a car.

Life’s a Car driving to its Destination

and we People are the Drivers

who must confidently take charge.

the Car starts with a Key

the Key to Life is the Soul

once entered it charges the body

and Life begins.

but in a hurry to see what’s next, we

push the Accelerator

and find Life taking a more frantic pace

soon too quick to control.

suddenly we realize that

we’re going too fast

so, we hit the Brake

to slow Life down

give us a little time

to take in the beauty and have joy

for what’s around us.

but there’s something to do

somewhere to be

more Important than all this

so, we launch right back

speed up the pace

get the Car running faster

and Life’s a frenzy again.

finally comes some time

to take a back seat

to relax, to settle down

and slow down our pace.

but…

the cycle continues

fast then slow

slow then fast

no wonder Life comes across as a pain, a

misery

and the Car? such a Driver

shouldn’t even be allowed to Drive

until he learns how to maintain

a steady pace.

if we don’t let any Car

go so wild

then what about Life?

all too soon we’d find

there was a wrong turn somewhere

we made a mistake, we

left behind Childhood to ‘grow up’

(are we really better off than little Children?)

left behind Joy for Action

(and was that really worth it?)

is it too late

or can we go back

make a U-turn or just pause

hit the Brake.

leave the Car, they say

get out and Distance yourself

Isolation, Renunciation, Asceticism is the

answer.

but I say

that may work for some, but

not for the Whole

for how do you find the Meaning of Life

by Leaving it?

we must learn to Drive properly

and then only can we be called the Drivers

the answer is not to give up Driving

it’s to Understand, to Realize, to Know.

let us return to the Key

the Car’s Key, the Life’s Soul

make sure we know it through and through

perhaps understand the inner workings of the

Car

that is, connect with our understanding of Life

of Nature

take some time to enjoy Nature

have Joy

stay in the present, doesn’t matter

what’s ahead or what we missed

maybe then we’ll be better Drivers

for when the Passenger of a Car

graduates to being the Master

when, caught up in Life, we finally

take control

Life stops pulling us; we lead Life

as the Master

of our Selves.
